Policy Intent:

This policy idea seeks to encourage opportunities for individual and community scale energy proposals which to contribute to energy efficiency and renewable low carbon energy generation, particularly where they provide tangible benefits to the community and/or they conserve or enhance biodiversity. The policy may support such proposals where :

• the siting and scale of the proposed development is appropriate to its setting and position in the local landscape; and
• the proposed development does not create an unacceptable impact on the amenities of local residents; and
• the proposed development does not have an unacceptable impact on a feature of natural or biodiversity importance

The Steering Group would like to talk to local climate action groups to consider what forms and scale of renewable energy may be supported locally and what opportunities may exist in order to develop this policy area.
